Alpha Safe wanted to share the latest information on how to order new GSA Approved Security Containers

In their “Final Rule” document (2/10/25), GSA’s Interagency Committee on Security Equipment (IACSE) published the following:

“Two methods a manufacturer can use to sell new GSA-approved security containers:

  1. Through the GSA Global Supply procurement process.
  2. Direct Purchase Authority (DPA). This process (see below) must be approved by GSA prior to the sale. It authorizes a sale directly between the GSA Approved Security Container Manufacture and the industrial contractor indicated on the DPA approval letter signed by GSA.”

“Any unauthorized sale by a manufacturer will result in suspension and disbarment”

That being said, all U.S. Government departments and agencies are required to purchase through the GSA Global Supply Network. However, if you are having issues with the above method, here is the method to receive a DPA. Please note that if you apply for a DPA it is not guaranteed that you will receive one.

OBTAINING A DPA (Direct Purchase Authority) FROM GSA

  1. Contractor must submit answers to the following questions on their own letterhead and forward to Jeremy.Hensley@gsa.gov or Christopher.Pollock@gsa.gov
  2. Make sure to include the following information:
    1. Company Name and point of contact for company or US Government Agency requesting the exemption.
    2. Provide US Government Agency and Point of Contact for contract (name, email, phone number).
    3. NSN(s) and quantities.
    4. When you expect to order these containers.
    5. Reason why your order cannot be placed through the GSA Website. (please expect to have a copy of your DD254’s or an explanation of why they cannot be obtained).
  3. Once approved, Jeremy Hensley or Christopher Pollock will email you a DPA letter which you will need to have when ordering. Orders cannot be processed without this letter.
